Thank you, Brenda. I think I'm at that age that when I'm when with my beloved and loyal readers (like you!) I feel comfortable being transparent. Plus, I just deplore people who put others down to make themselves feel better 💔 Thank you for being here! xo

I have The Helsinki Affair somewhere in a TBR pile but I'd forgotten about it so I'm glad you mentioned it. I just got Mrs. Quinn's Rise to Fame, by Olivia Ford, about a seventy-seven-year-old woman who enters a Great British Baking Show clone and becomes famous. I cannot wait to read it.

Ooh, love the sound of that one, Charlotte. It's on my list now. Thank you! I just finished The Helsinki Affair yesterday, and I was not disappointed. Let me know what you think when you've read it. You're in the draw. Good luck and thank you for being here!

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but Mrs. Quinn has become a DNF. It was fine, just fine, but that was the problem. The story idea is great but there wasn't enough oomph to make me keep reading.

Ah, don’t ever be embarrassed about DNFs, Charlotte. That’s what I love about our connections here on Substack. We’re kind, but honest. 🩶

I always feel bad for the author, though!
